Sweet Sweet Sleep...

Wow, this almost counts as consistency! I think I could get the hang of this blogging lark. Anyhow, since last week I have been busy, very busy. I decided to give up on regular life momentarily and do night shifts at a big tent opposite Berkhamsted station. Its all part of the reach-out project which is doing superb social action projects in Berkhamsted. It is so exciting to be a small cog in a huge wheel but finally people are taking serious action to show Gods love to people in a genuine way. Some guy became a Christian on Tuesday that has been the highlight so far. The devils had a bit of a hand in some hairy moments but so far he has only had a tiny impact.

Nights are weird. The stars came out last night and shed some character to the night sky - better than the rain and cloud. Didn't quite make it through the night without sleep though, would love to have made it but after 5 nights straight, sitting doing nothing, consciousness doesn't come easy.

Can't wait till Saturday - my reward. An exuberantly priced trip to see Jamie Cullum at Audley End with some exceptionally good company. As long as the rain stays at bay we should be sorted. The fireworks will be genius too.

Today's thought:
Who is Jesus? He is my King!

“He’s the sinner’s savior. He’s the centerpiece of civilization. He stands alone in Himself. He’s unique. He’s unparalleled. He’s unprecedented. He’s supreme. He’s preeminent. He’s the loftiest idea in literature…. the highest concept in philosophy... the fundamental truth in theology... the cardinal necessity of religion. “He’s the miracle of the age. He supplies strength for the weak. He’s available for the tempted and the tried. He sympathizes and He saves. He guards and He guides. He heals the sick, He cleans the lepers, He forgives sinners, He discharges debtors, He delivers captives, He defends the feeble, He blesses the young, He serves the unfortunate, He regards the aged, He rewards the diligent, He beautifies the meek. Do you know Him? He’s my king!”He’s “the king of knowledge… the well-spring of wisdom… the doorway of deliverance… the pathway of peace, He’s the roadway of righteousness… the highway of holiness… the gateway of glory… the master of the mighty… the captain of the conquerors… the head of the heroes… the leader of the legislators... the overseer of the overcomers, He’s the governor of governors, He’s the prince of princes, He’s the King of kings and the Lord of Lords. Do you know Him?”“His life is matchless. His goodness is limitless. His mercy is everlasting. His love never changes. His word is enough. His grace is sufficient. His reign is righteous. His yoke is easy and His burden is light.”Dr. Lockeridge would slow down at that point and say, “I’m trying to describe Him to you.” But then he’d say, “But the problem is, He’s indescribable. He’s irresistible. He’s incomprehensible. He’s invincible. The Pharisees hated Him. The Jews rejected Him. Pilate condemned Him. The Romans crucified Him. Our sins killed Him. The rich man buried Him. But the grave could not hold Him. And death could not handle Him. And He rose triumphant on the third day, and He ascended into Heaven, and He sits enthroned at the right hand of God the Father. He is the Lord of Heaven, the Lord of the Church, the Lord of our lives. He is our High Priest in Heaven. He is our coming King. That’s who Jesus is. Do you know Him? Is He your king? Is He your Lord?”

S.M. Lockeridge

P.S Knowledge is not power. Still, my first counts for something! More later.
